HCS, LLC Medicare/Medicaid Cost Report Analysis

Healthcare Consulting Services, LLC (HCS), can review your cost reports before or after they have been audited to ensure that the provider has received all appropriate reimbursement it is entitled to receive.

HCS has found that many providers do not capture all the reimbursement for a variety of reasons including:

PS&R errors

Fiscal intermediaries make unnecessary and/or incorrect adjustments

Providers are not aware of all the reimbursement principles that could enhance their reimbursement

Fiscal intermediaries do not inform providers of items that would increase reimbursement

HCS has staff who deal with these ever-changing issues on a daily basis. Our Medicare and Medicaid cost report analyses are designed to require as little work from you as possible. Our staff will come on-site to review the reports. We will discuss any potential issues with you to verify that issues raised are accurate. Our staff will copy any support for the issues identified. We will provide you with a letter to be filed with the intermediary including the necessary support. Any suggestions that we find while looking at the report will be noted in a letter to you along with any areas of concern that we feel should be brought to your attention.

Often an analysis of the cost report will also indicate other areas for increased reimbursement either retroactively or prospectively. The areas commonly identified through a cost report analysis are:
