HCS, LLC Home Health Agency Cost Limit Exceptions

Healthcare Consulting Services, LLC (HCS), can assist Home Health Agencies in obtaining additional reimbursement in those years where Medicare costs exceed the cost limits.

At HCS, we can pursue exceptions to the limits if your Medicare costs are excessive due to one of the following circumstances:

	The Agency is providing atypical services to its patients
	The Agency has unusually high labor costs due to availability of potential employees
	The Agency has unusually high travel costs due to distance required to service patients

HCS staff will review your Medicare cost reports and supporting workpapers to determine if an opportunity exists for a Home Health Agency Cost Limit Exception. If the opportunity exists, we will prepare the exception request with supporting workpapers and forward it to the intermediary for their review. We will also address any questions or responses received from the intermediary on your behalf, if appropriate.

During our review of the home health cost limits, we will be able to identify any other Medicare Cost Report significant issues which should be addressed in an effort to obtain the appropriate reimbursement.
